**I thought I had posted this before we left for our trip to Michigan! Sorry for the lack of photos**
Today I started to study for my last level II fieldwork
(<warning, this link downloads a 4 page paper explaining what a
level II fieldwork is for occupational therapy students). I had a phone
conversation with my clinical instructor and she told me that in the
past year she has had 6 students and has not wanted to pass any of them.
But she also told me that she did not want to scare me away ... yeahhhhh. Too late. But I am bound to study and come fully prepared for whatever I may encounter.
Anyways,
as our 3rd wedding anniversary approaches (it was on the 19th/it pasted) I thought I would start
sharing our love story. :) cue either the awwwwws or gags. Whichever suits you. I am doing this mostly because I want to write down details
that I may not remember even 3 years from now. There are already a lot
of things I don't remember. I love history and looking back
at where I have come. I would like to be able to share things with my
future children and read these posts in the future when feeling nostalgic.
Here goes ......
Apparently, the story is that the first time Guy and I met was in the Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University.
It was during a weekly chapel in the fall. I was a freshman. Guy grew
up with my brother's wife. At the time my sister-in-law and brother were
just dating. They were all sitting together in chapel. I was walking by
to say hi to my brother and his girlfriend and while chatting with them
Guy was introduced to me. Guy says that he thought I was cute, but
didn't think anything would come of our introduction. I apparently was
too distracted by another guy that I was interested in at the time. (If
only I had known that he wasn't trully interested in me .... that's
another story for another time). So, I walked away and .... I DON'T
REMEMBER THIS AT ALL. This is Guy's story.
My story of our first encounter goes like this:
It
was the fall. I was a freshman and loving it. I had made several good
friends with some freshmen girls who had graduated from the local
Adventist academy (Guy went to that academy). Every year that academy
has an alumni versus students flag football game during their alumni
weekend. This is a big deal for the academy and my friends dragged me
along to watch the game. (I probably shouldn't have gone to that game as
I distinctly remember I wasn't going to go because I was trying to
study for anatomy, which I promptly failed that semester *oops*)
While,
we were socializing at the game, one of my friends spotted her then
boyfriend hanging with a group of his friends, one of which was Guy. My
friend and her boyfriend had had some type of disagreement and she
wanted me to walk over with her to act as kind of a buffer while she
reconnected with her boyfriend. (I think, the details are already
getting fuzzy). I do remember her saying, "You can meet Guy and talk to
him."
So, we walk over there and I am introduced to Guy.
He is sitting on a bench kind of leaning forward and his hood was on his
head. I really didn't get a good look at him. Our conversation was
trivial. I remember talking about the game Uno. He seemed nice and I
remember being interested to a degree. I had my sights on someone else,
though. (And not the guy that was mentioned in Guy's version of the
story. Don't hate.) One of my friends came over and asked if I wanted to go with her to get some french fries from McDonald's, which was right by the football field. I agreed to go and when I came back Guy was gone. Apparently, my conversation was not as riveting as I thought. Guy says that he wasn't going to wait around for me to come back. So, he left with his friends.
Whether my story or Guy's is the right one, we met in the fall of 2008 at Andrews University. That much we agree on.
Look out for the dating years next. I'll give you a hint. I was pretty much an emotional wreck the whole time.
