So, Guy and I have Netflix. We only pay for the basic online package. No mail in movies for us. We're cheap.
We like movies and watching TV shows. Now we don't like television itself, though. We cannot stand commercials so neither of us watch television channels or listen to the radio. And therein lies the beauty of Netflix.
Anyways, I thought I would share some gems we have found lately and have thoroughly enjoyed.
BOY (2010)
"Set on the east coast of New Zealand in the year 1984, Boy, an 11-year-old kid and devout Michael Jackson fan gets a chance to know his father, who has returned to find a bag of money he buried years ago." imdb
Guy and I both really enjoyed this movie. We were reminded of Napoleon Dynamite and Wes Anderson's films. We laughed, I may have teared up, and watching the dynamic between Boy, his brother, and their prodigal father was interesting. And, I believe that anything is made better with an accent from New Zealand. Not yet convinced? Watch the trailer.
Sleep Walk With Me (2012)
"A burgeoning stand-up comedian [Mike Birbiglia] struggles with the stress of a stalled career, a stale relationship, and the wild spurts of severe sleepwalking he is desperate to ignore." imdb
This one was suggested to us by a friend. I loved it, but it was surprising to me in ways that I don't want to say or else I'd spoil it for you! It was raw, sometimes uncomfortable, but real. It made me think about why I had been in relationships in the past and why they did/did not end.
Enjoy!
